Engine Starting System - 2.5L: Troubleshooting

Symptom Suspect area Remedy
Engine will not crank Battery charge low Charge or replace battery
Battery cables loose, corroded or worn out Repair or replace cables
Transaxle range switch (Vehicle with automatic transaxle only) Refer to appropriate service information
Fuse blown Replace fuse
Starter motor faulty Replace
Ignition switch faulty Replace
body and transaxle ground open Repair ground
Power cannot be supplied to the stater ST terminal due to poor battery (+) cable and cutting. Check and repair or replace battery (+) cable.
Battery discharge Check the battery and replace according to battery condition
Engine cranks slowly Battery charge low Charge or replace battery
Battery cables loose, corroded or worn out Repair or replace cables
Starter motor faulty Replace
Starter keeps running Starter motor faulty Replace
Ignition switch Replace
Starter spins but engine will not crank Short in wiring Repair or replace wiring
Pinion gear teeth broken or starter motor Replace
Ring gear teeth broken Replace fly wheel or toque converter
The engine is OFF while driving Alternator main fuse blown Replace alternator main fuse
check the battery and replace
Alternator connecting error Right connector connect
poor restart Deterioration cause by poor battery (+) terminal contact Battery wiring check tightening toque or replace.
Unable to start even when jump start Dark current is excessive occurrences irregularly because wrong remote and smart key registration. Re-register smart key
Wiring trouble wiring modify
Battery discharge Check the battery and replace according to battery condition
