Passenger-side AIR Bag Module

- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove passenger-side air bag module from vehicle, and place module on a clean, dry, work bench with trim cover facing upward. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Secure passenger-side air bag module to deployment bracket (J41246) using two 8 mm bolts, about 30 mm (1.18") in length. Ensure that air bag module does not wobble on deployment bracket, using wood blocks if necessary to fill any gaps. Mount bracket securely in a vise, with air bag facing upward. See Fig 1 .
- Position a fully charged 12-volt battery at least 16 ft. (5 m) from deployment area. Connect Air Bag Deployment Tool (J38381) to passenger-side air bag module connector. See Fig 2 . Connect Red deployment tool clip to positive battery terminal and Black deployment tool clip to negative battery terminal.
- Ensure deployment tool power lamp glows Green. If deployment tool power lamp glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck lamp. Ensure no one is within 16 ft (5 m) of air bag module. Press deployment tool button to instantly deploy air bag.
