Air Suction Control Solenoid Valve Test I

  1. Disconnect 6-wire connector at emission control box. Connect voltmeter positive lead to Black/Yellow wire terminal and negative lead to Pink wire terminal of air suction control solenoid valve.
  2. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and restart engine. Check voltmeter reading within 10 seconds after restarting engine. If voltage is present within 10 seconds after restart, replace air suction control solenoid valve. If voltage is NOT present, go to next step.
  3. Turn engine off. Move voltmeter negative lead to body ground. Turn ignition on. Check voltage. If voltage is NOT present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between solenoid valve and No. 9 (10-amp) fuel pump fuse.
  4. If voltage is present, check for open in Pink wire between solenoid valve and ECU. If wire is okay, substitute a known good ECU and retest. If problem goes away, replace original ECU.
