EGR Valve Lift Sensor
- Disconnect EGR valve lift sensor 3-wire harness connector located on top of EGR valve. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check for 5-volt reference voltage between ground and Yellow/White wire terminal. If 5 volts are not present, check voltage source at ECU terminal C14 (Green/White wire).
- Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, connect leads to White/Green wire and Green/White wire terminals of 3-wire harness connector. Connect a vacuum pump to EGR valve. Slowly apply vacuum. Resistance value should smoothly change as vacuum is applied and released.
- If sensor does not respond as indicated, replace EGR valve/lift sensor. If Code 12 is set, go to Code 12 diagnostic procedures in TESTS W/CODES article.
