Linear Solenoid

  1. Linear solenoid is located on throttle valve body. Disconnect transaxle sub-harness connector. See Figure .
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 7 and terminal No. 8. See Fig 1 .
  3. Resistance should be 5.0-5.6 ohms at 70°F (20°C). If resistance is not within specification, disconnect linear solenoid connector from transaxle sub-harness at the transaxle. Note terminal identification on linear solenoid connector.
  4. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal "C" and terminal "D" of linear solenoid connector.
  5. Resistance should be 5.0-5.6 ohms at 70°F (20°C). If resistance is okay, replace transaxle sub-harness. Replace linear solenoid if resistance is not within specification.
  6. Check linear solenoid operation. Apply positive battery terminal to terminal "C" and negative battery terminal to terminal "D" of linear solenoid connector.
  7. Clicking sound should be heard, indicating linear solenoid operation. Replace linear solenoid if it fails to operate.
NOTE: Linear solenoid and throttle valve body must be replaced as an assembly.
