Flow Chart Usage

  1. Use proper flow chart in accordance with fault code. Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A) and Adapter (07MAZ-PY4010A) may be required when using flow charts. Modify test harness before connecting, using knife to cut bars off each side of test harness "A" connector. See Figure . "A" connector is a 26-pin connector.
  2. To connect test harness, ensure ignition is off. Remove door sill molding on passenger's side and remove small cover on right kick panel. Pull carpet back for access to ECU. Remove bracket from above ECU.
NOTE: On some flow charts, technician will be instructed to connect test harness to only specified connector and NOT the ECU. Reference is made in flow chart to E(26P) connector. This is "E" connector on left side of ECU.
  3. If connecting to ECU, disconnect "E" connector from left side of ECU. See Figure . This is 26-pin connector used for transaxle control.
  4. Connect test harness "A" connector to "E" connector opening on left side of ECU. Install adapter between test harness and "E" connector on wiring harness. See Figure . Disconnect necessary wiring connectors on right side of ECU and connect to test harness.
  5. Use Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) to measure voltage unless instructed otherwise. Terminal numbers are located on top of test harness. Test harness is divided into different sections.
NOTE: "A" section of test harness and cable adapter corresponds to "E" connector on ECU.
  6. On some fault code charts, technician will be instructed to see if PGM-FI self-diagnosis indicator blinks. This is CHECK ENGINE light on instrument panel. See Figure .
  7. If CHECK ENGINE light is blinking, PGM-FI system must be checked. See the TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  8. Once all repairs are performed, remove test harness and adapter and reinstall components. Ensure fault code is cleared from ECU memory. See CLEARING FAULT CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
