Differentials & Drive Axles: Description

Although Legend has FWD, it is equipped with a separate differential assembly that is bolted to right side of engine oil pan and to transaxle. Differential assembly is linked internally to transaxle by an extension shaft. Differential consists of hypoid reduction gears, 2 pinion gears, and 2 side gears. Center line of drive pinion is mounted above center line of ring gear. Drive pinion depth and ring gear backlash settings are adjusted by use of shims.
