Valve Guide Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Cool new valve guides in freezer for about one hour. Remove new valve guides from freezer as needed. Install new valve guides from camshaft side of cylinder head.
  2. Drive each guide into heated head until attachment bottoms against head. If replacing all valve guides, reheat cylinder head as necessary.
  3. Intake valve guide installed height must be 0.55" (14 mm). Exhaust valve guide installed height must be 0.63" (16 mm). Using cutting oil, ream new valve guides by rotating Valve Guide Reamer (07984-657010C) clockwise the full length of valve guide bore. Measure valve stem oil clearance. See CYLINDER HEAD table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
NOTE: Always reface valve seat after replacing valve guide.
