  1. Check fuse No. 17 (7.5-amp). If fuse is okay, disconnect 8-pin connector from function control motor.
  2. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Black/Yellow terminal and chassis ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between function control motor and fuse block.
  3. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open between Black wire and chassis ground.
  4. Inspect function control motor. See FUNCTION CONTROL MOTOR  under TESTING. If function control motor is defective, replace motor. If function control motor is okay, go to next step.
  5. Unplug 14-pin connector from heater control panel. Check continuity of Blue/White, Green/White, Yellow, Yellow/Red, and Yellow/Blue wires between 14-pin and 8-pin connectors. See Fig 1 . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open circuit in affected wire(s).

  6. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between chassis ground and Blue/White, Green/White, Yellow, Yellow/Red and Yellow/Blue wires. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in affected wire(s).
NOTE: A short to ground in any wire will prevent function control motor from changing positions.
  7. Turn ignition on. Check for voltage between chassis ground and Blue/White, Green/White, Yellow, Yellow/Red and Yellow/Blue wires. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to power in affected wire(s). Inspect heater control panel for possible damage, and repair or replace as required.
  8. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, replace heater control panel. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between heater control panel and chassis ground.
