Overhaul - "Y" Series: Differential: Introduction: Reassembly

1. Coat all parts with molylube before reassembly. To check backlash of both pinion gears, place differential assembly on blocks and install both axles. Backlash should be .002-.006" (.05-.15 mm). See Fig 2 .
2. If backlash exceeds limit, replace carrier assembly. After final backlash check and with all tolerances correct, install ring gear. Ensure chamfer on inside diameter of ring gear is facing the carrier.
