Cruise Control Cannot Be Set

  1. Check ground connection G152, located at left front corner of engine compartment. Check ground connection G251, located at base of left "B" pillar. Check ground connection G301, located behind left kick panel. Check ground connection G304, located at base of right "B" pillar. Repair ground connections as necessary. Check cruise control unit inputs. See CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Test main switch. See MAIN SWITCH  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  2. Test SET/RESUME/CANCEL switch. See SET/RESUME/CANCEL SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING  . Test brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Test clutch switch on M/T vehicles. See CLUTCH SWITCH  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Test shift lever position switch on A/T vehicles. See SHIFT LEVER POSITION SWITCH under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  3. Inspect the following wires for open circuit. Repair wires as necessary.
    • Blue/Red wire between horns and SET/RESUME/CANCEL switch.
    • Light Green/Red wire between SET/RESUME/CANCEL switch and cruise control unit.
    • Blue wire between ignition system and cruise control unit.
    • Yellow wire between underdash fuse No. 13 and dimming circuit for gauges.
    • Black/Red wire between underdash fuse No. 20, main switch, and cruise control unit connector.
    • Light Green wire between main switch, brakelight switch, and cruise control unit.
    • Gray wire between brakelight switch and cruise control unit.
    • Brown wire between actuator assembly and cruise control unit.
    • Brown/Black wire between actuator assembly and cruise control unit.
    • Brown/White wire between actuator assembly and cruise control unit.
    • Pink wire between clutch switch (M/T) or shift lever position switch (A/T) and cruise control unit.
    • Yellow/Red wire between speed sensor and cruise control unit.
