Code 2-1: Parking Brake Switch

  1. Remove ABS fuse No. 2 (15-amp) for at least 3 seconds to clear trouble codes. Test drive vehicle. If ANTI-LOCK warning light and control unit LED are off (no code), vehicle was probably driven with parking brake applied.
  2. If parking brake was not applied, check for low brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Refill if necessary. Check for shorted Green/Red wire between BRAKE warning light and parking brake switch. Check for shorted Green/Red wire between BRAKE warning light and brake fluid level switch.
  3. Also check for blown bulb in BRAKE warning light. Check for open Green/Red wire between BRAKE warning light and control unit. If all items are okay, check for loose or damaged control unit connectors. If connectors are okay, install a known-good control unit and retest.
