Charging System Light Comes On

  1. Start engine. If the charging system light goes out, charging system light circuit is okay. If the charging system light does not go off, go to next step.
  2. Turn off ignition. Disconnect 4-P connector from alternator. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on, with engine off.
  3. If the charging system light comes on, Disconnect the ABS control unit and EPS control unit (if equipped). See Fig 3 and Fig 4 . If charging system light stays on, repair short to ground in the WHT/BLU wire.
  4. If the charging system light does NOT come on, charging system light circuit is okay. Go to ALTERNATOR & REGULATOR TEST  .
