Steering Angle Detection
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 16 other vehicles, including the 2005 Acura NSX, 2004 Acura NSX, 2003 Acura NSX-T, 2003 Acura NSX, and 2002 Acura NSX-T. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Steering angle is detected by the steering angle sensor, located on steering column. The sensor uses two Magneto-Resistor (MR) elements to determine steering angle and direction of rotation. When driver turns the steering wheel, a magnet in the steering shaft generates waves in the MR elements. These waves are amplified and converted into signals which TCS control unit can interpret as angle and direction of turn. See Fig 1.
