Anti-Theft System: Description

The 3.5RL is equipped with 2 separate anti-theft systems. There is an immobilizer system and a security alarm system.

The security alarm system is activated automatically 15 seconds after all doors, hood and trunk have been closed and locked. Security alarm system indicator light, located next to driver's door lock knob, will flash after all doors are closed and locked. For security alarm system to activate, doors must be locked from outside using a key, lock knob, door lock switch, or remote transmitter. Security alarm system will not arm if any door, hood or trunk is not fully closed.

Immobilizer system is designed to disable vehicle when an incorrect ignition key is used. Immobilizer system consists of a immobilizer control unit, 3 different coded keys, immobilizer receiver, immobilizer indicator light, starter cut relay, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), parking brake switch and transmission position switch. A Black master key operates ignition and all locks, Gray valet key only operates ignition and door locks and Red learning key is only used to program replace keys and will not start engine. If Red key is used to start engine all other keys will require reprogramming and engine will not start.
