Adjusting Gearshift Lever Position Switch

1. Remove front console. Gearshift lever position switch is located on right side of gearshift lever mechanism. Disconnect gearshift lever position switch Gray 14-pin connector.
2. Loosen 2 gearshift lever position switch mounting bolts. Slowly slide switch toward "P" position, to within 0.08" (2 mm), while checking for continuity between gearshift lever position switch 14-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 12 (Green/White wire). See Fig 1 .
3. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, gearshift lever position switch is okay. Tighten switch mounting bolts. Verify vehicle starts with gearshift lever in "P" and "N" positions. If continuity does not exist, check gearshift lever detent and bracket for damage. If no damage exists, replace gearshift lever position switch
