Connect voltmeter negative lead to 3-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). Connect voltmeter positive lead to 3-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Blue wire). Turn ignition on and measure voltage. If voltage is 5-8 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5-8 volts, check for poor connections or open in Yellow/Blue wire between fuel gauge and fuel gauge sending unit. Check for poor connections or open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground connection. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair as necessary.
CAUTION:
Failure to turn ignition off before fuel gauge pointer reaches "F" mark may damage fuel gauge. Fuel gauge can be damaged if battery voltage is applied directly to gauge terminals.
