Cruise Control Systems: Description
The cruise control unit receives command signals from cruise control main switch and cruise control SET/RESUME switch. Cruise control unit receives vehicle operating information from brakelight switch, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), and clutch switch (M/T) or A/T gearshift position switch. See Figure .
The cruise control unit compares actual vehicle speed to selected speed. Throttle is either opened or closed based upon this comparison. A signal from the brakelight switch will disengage system when brakes are applied. The clutch switch (M/T), A/T gearshift position switch, and cancel switch will also send disengage signals to cruise control unit.
