A/C System Does Not Operate
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Acura 3.2TL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect radiator fan relay connector, condenser fan relay connector, and A/C pressure switch connector. Turn ignition on. Check for voltage between ground and A/C pressure switch connector Blue/Black wire terminal. If approximately 5 volts exists, go to step 3). If approximately 5 volts does not exist, use Backprobe Set (07SAZ-001000A) to check for voltage between ground and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 16-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Blue/Black wire) with PCM connectors connected.
- If approximately 5 volts exist, repair open Blue/Black wire between A/C pressure switch and PCM. If approximately 5 volts does not exist, check for loose wires or poor connections at PCM 16-pin connector. If connections are okay, substitute known-good PCM and recheck. If symptom goes away with known-good PCM, replace original PCM.
- Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between A/C pressure switch Blue/Black wire terminal and Pink wire terminal for continuity. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, check A/C system pressure. See A/C SYSTEM PERFORMANCE under TESTING. If A/C system pressure is not within specifications, repair A/C system. If A/C system pressure is okay, replace A/C pressure switch.
- Reconnect A/C pressure switch. Remove climate control unit and disconnect 20-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Check for voltage between ground and climate control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 10 (Pink wire). See Figure . If approximately 5 volts does not exist, repair open Pink wire between A/C pressure switch and climate control unit.
- If approximately 5 volts exist, check for loose wires or poor connections at climate control unit 20-pin connector. If connections are okay, substitute known-good climate control unit and recheck. If symptom goes away with known-good climate control unit, replace original climate control unit.
