Temperature Gauge Test

  1. Check for blown fuse No. 25 (7.5-amp). Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Yellow/Green wire from sending unit. Sending unit is threaded into cylinder head. Using a jumper wire, ground sending unit wire.
CAUTION: Failure to turn ignition switch to OFF position before needle reaches "H" mark may result in damage to temperature gauge.
  2. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Gauge needle should start moving toward "H" mark on gauge. Turn ignition switch to OFF position before gauge needle reaches "H" mark. If temperature gauge needle does not move, check for open in Yellow or Yellow/Green wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If fuse and wiring are okay, replace temperature gauge. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If gauge is okay, check temperature sending unit. See TEMPERATURE SENDING UNIT TEST  .
