Ignition Switch
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Acura 3.5RL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
When battery cables or BACK-UP RADIO fuse (7.5-amp) are disconnected, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) idle control is erased from PCM memory. PCM idle memory must be reset when battery cables or BACK-UP RADIO fuse (7.5-amp) are reconnected. See RESETTING PCM IDLE MEMORY in MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEM
article.
Obtain radio anti-theft code and radio frequencies. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument panel lower cover. Disconnect ignition switch Brown 7-pin connector, located in underdash fuse/relay box. Check for continuity between specified terminals in each switch position. See Fig 1 . If continuity is not as specified, check for open, loose or disconnected terminals in ignition switch harness between underdash fuse/relay box and ignition switch. If ignition switch harness is okay, replace ignition switch. After connecting battery cable, reset radio anti-theft code, radio frequencies and reset PCM idle memory. See RESETTING PCM IDLE MEMORY in MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEM article.
