Instrument Cluster Dimmer Control Test

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove driver's switch panel, located left of steering column. Disconnect dimmer control unit 6-pin connector. Check connector for open, loose or disconnected terminals. If terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair as necessary and recheck system. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between dimmer control unit terminals No. 3 (Blue/Black wire) and No. 4 (Light Green wire). While rotating dial, resistance should be 0-10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace dimmer control unit.
- Cancel switch is open with dial rotated beyond end position to CANCEL position (until click). Cancel switch is closed when dial is between minimum and maximum brightness positions. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between dimmer control unit terminals No. 2 (Red/Black wire) and No. 6 (Black/White wire). If continuity exists with cancel switch in open position, replace dimmer control unit. If continuity does not exist with cancel switch in closed position, replace dimmer control unit.
