Section 12 (Anti-Lock): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Isuzu Rodeo, 1998 Isuzu Amigo, and 1998 Honda Passport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) operates on all 4 wheels. ABS operation is controlled by the Electronic Hydraulic Control Unit (EHCU). The EHCU receives input signals from wheel speed sensors to monitor wheel speed. If EHCU determines a wheel is about to lock, hydraulic pressure is adjusted to maintain optimum braking. ABS system consists of an EHCU, "G" sensor/accelerometer, hydraulic unit, ABS warning light, wheel speed sensors, and proportioning and by-pass valves. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
NOTE:
For additional information on brake system, see BRAKE SYSTEM
article.
