Intermittent Symptom
- If MIL stays on or comes on after 2 seconds with ignition on, go to step 3. If MIL never comes on after ignition switch is turned on, check for loose No. 20 (20-amp) ECU fuse or loose No. 22 FUEL PUMP (20-amp) fuse. Check for an intermittent short circuit in wiring in underdash fuse/relay box. Check for poor connection at PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 7 (Light Green/Red wire). If connection and fuse are okay, check for an intermittent open in wire between PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 7 and gauge assembly. Check for poor connection at PCM 22-pin connector terminal No. 10 (Yellow/Red wire). If connection and fuse are okay, check for an intermittent open in wire between PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 10 and MAP sensor.
- Check for poor connection at PCM 22-pin connector terminal No. 21 (Yellow/Blue wire). If connection and fuse are okay, check for an intermittent open in wire between PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 21 and TP sensor, EGR valve lift sensor, fuel tank pressure sensor, and TCS control valve angle sensor. Check for loose No. 25 IG COIL (30-amp) fuse in underdash fuse/relay box. Check PGM-FI main relay located under instrument panel, to right of steering column.
- Check for intermittent short circuit in Red wire between PCM 12-pin connector terminal No. 5 and DLC. Check for intermittent short circuit in Green/Black wire between PCM 22-pin connector terminal No. 22 and DLC. Also check for intermittent short circuit in Green/Red wire between PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 7 and gauge assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
