Piston Pin Inspection

  1. Measure diameter of piston pin. Measure diameter of piston pin bore in piston. Piston pin clearance is difference between the 2 measurements. Ensure piston pin clearance is within specification. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
  2. If piston pin clearance is more than specification, install oversize piston pin and recheck clearance. Oversize pin diameter is .8265-.8268" (20.993-21.000 mm).
  3. Determine difference between piston pin diameter and connecting rod small end bore to obtain interference fit. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
