Power Rack & Pinion: Description
NOTE:
The 3.2TL, Type-S Model is the same as the 3.2CL.
The power steering system is rack and pinion type. Power assist is high at low vehicle speeds and low at high vehicle speeds.
On the Premium 3.2TL, the speed sensor is pump driven by the speedometer gear shaft, driven by a gear in the differential. When vehicle is in motion, the speed sensor pump relieves a portion of the hydraulic pressure, reducing power assist.
On all models, the system consists of a power rack and pinion steering gear, steering pump, fluid filter/reservoir, and cooler lines and hoses. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 for exploded views of component locations.
