Retrieving DTC Using SRS Indicator Light Method

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Acura 3.2TL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect Honda PGM Tester to 16-pin data link connector and follow tester prompts in "SCS" menu. See Figure.
  2. Turn ignition on. SRS indicator light will come on for about 6 seconds and go off. DTC will be indicated next. DTC consists of a main code and a sub-code. Up to 3 different malfunctions can be indicated. In case of a continuous failure, DTC will be indicated repeatedly. In case of an intermittent failure, SRS indicator light will indicate DTC once, then it will stay on. If both a continuous and an intermittent failure occur, only DTC of continuous failure will be indicated. In case system is normal (no DTC), SRS indicator light will stay on.
  3. Read DTC. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect Honda PGM tester.
