Oil Pump Assembly: Installation

  1. Clean and dry oil pump mating surface. Apply liquid gasket evenly to block mating surface of oil pump and to inner threads of bolt holes.
  2. Grease lip of oil seal and apply oil to NEW "O" rings. Install dowel pins, then align inner rotor with crankshaft, and install oil pump. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Clean excess grease from crankshaft. Check seal for distortion.
  3. Install oil screen. Clean and dry oil pan mating surfaces. Apply liquid gasket to pan mating surface on engine block and to inner threads of bolt holes. Install oil pan. Tighten mounting bolts in sequence, in 2-3 steps. See Figure.
