DTC P2279: Intake Air System Leak

CAUTION: When substituting or replacement of PCM is recommended, see PCM REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT  for important precautions.
NOTE: If DTC P0443 is stored at the same time as DTC P2279, troubleshoot DTC P0443 first, then recheck for DTC P2279.
  1. Check for vacuum leaks from the following parts:
    • PCV valve.
    • PCV hose.
    • Purge (PCS) line.
    • Throttle body.
    • Brake booster hose.
    • Engine mount control solenoid valve.
  2. If they are OK, go to next step. If they are not OK, repair or replace damaged parts as necessary. Go to step  5 .
  3. Start engine. Hold engine speed at 3000 RPM with no loads (A/T in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, then let engine idle for 2 minutes.
  4. Using the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS, monitor OBD STATUS for DTC P2279 in the DTCs menu. If it is PASSED, problem is intermittent, system is OK at this time. If it is NOT COMPLETED, go to step  3 and recheck.
  5. Turn ignition on. With the Honda PGM tester or the HDS, do PCM RESET in the CLEAR menu. Do the PCM idle learn procedure. See PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE  . Go to next step.
  6. Start engine. Hold engine speed at 3000 RPM with no loads (A/T in Park or Neutral) until radiator fan comes on, then let engine idle for 2 minutes.
  7. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs in the DTC menu. If DTC P2279 is set, check for vacuum leaks at PCV valve and hose, PCS line, throttle body and brake booster hose. Go to step  1 . If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are set, troubleshoot those indicated. If there are no Temporary DTCs or DTCs set, PCM was updated, go to the indicated DTC and troubleshoot.
  8. Using the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS, monitor OBD STATUS for DTC P2279 in the DTCs menu. If it is PASSED, troubleshooting is done. If it is FAILED, go to step  1 and recheck. If it is NOT COMPLETED, go to step  6 and recheck.
