Retrieving DTCs Using Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
- The blinking of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with the SCS service connector connected will also indicate DTCs. The MIL can indicate any number of simultaneous component problems by blinking separate codes, one after another.
- Problem codes 1 through 9 are indicated by individual short blinks. Problem codes 10 and up are indicated by a series of long and short blinks. The number of long blinks indicates the first digit and the number of short blinks indicates the second digit. See Fig 1

- After any diagnosis remove the SCS Service Connector, if it is connected. If the SCS service connector is connected and there are no DTCs stored in the ECM, the MIL will stay on when the ignition switch is turned on.
