Radio Remote Switch Does Not Work Properly

  1. Test the radio remote switch (see SUBWOOFER ).

    Is the radio remote switch OK? 

    1. YES  - Go to step  2.
    2. NO  - Replace the radio remote switch (see SUBWOOFER ).
  2. Remove the audio-HVAC display module assembly (see AUDIO-HVAC DISPLAY MODULE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  3. Measure resistance between the audio unit connector A (20P) terminals No. 3 and No. 11 as specified in the table.

    Button held down VOL DOWN VOL UP CH (-) CH (+) MODE (NONE)
    Resistance about 100 ohm about 357 ohm about 775 ohm about 1.7 kohm about 3.7 kohm 10 kohm

    Is resistance OK? 

    1. YES  - Go to step  4.
    2. NO  - Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio unit and the radio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel (see CABLE REEL REPLACEMENT ).
  4. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector A (20P) terminals No. 3 and No. 11 individually.

    Is there continuity? 

    1. YES  - Repair a short to ground in the wire between the audio unit and the radio remote switch. If the wires are OK, replace the cable reel (see CABLE REEL REPLACEMENT ).
    2. NO  - Replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
