Transmission Disassembly
Special Tools Required
Mainshaft holder 07GAB-PF50101
- Remove the ATF dipstick (A) and the dipstick tube (B).
- For '07 model: Disconnect the transmission range switch harness connector, and remove the transmission range switch harness (C) and the connector bracket (D).
- Pry the lock tab of the lock washer (E) on the control lever (F), and remove the nut, the lock washer, the spring washer, and the control lever.
- Remove the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B (G) (six bolts), the ATF feed pipes (H) (three), the O-rings (three), and the gasket.
- Remove the solenoid valve cover (I) (seven bolts), the dowel pins (two), and the gasket.
- Disconnect the solenoid valve connectors, then remove the solenoid harness connector (J).
- Remove the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C (K) (four bolts), the ATF feed pipes (L) (two), the O-rings (two), and the gasket.
- Pry up the lock tabs of the lock washer (M) on the transmission range switch (N), hold the selector control shaft (O) with a 6.0 mm wrench, and loosen the locknut (P).
- Remove the locknut and the lock washer, then remove the transmission range switch (two bolts).
- Remove the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor (Q), the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor (R), and the sensor washer (S). R).
- Remove the ATF temperature sensor connector from the connector bracket (T) and the harness clamp from the clamp bracket, then remove the ATF temperature sensor (U).
- Remove the connector bracket and 6.0 mm bolt (V), then remove the line bolts (W), the ATF cooler lines (X), and the sealing washers (Y).
- Remove the end cover (Z) (three bolts), the snap ring cap (AA) (two bolts), the sealing plug (BB), and the washer (CC).
- Remove the 3rd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (DD) and the sealing washer.
- Remove the 4th clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (EE) and the sealing washer.
- Remove the 2nd clutch transmission fluid pressure switch (FF) and the sealing washer.
- Slip the mainshaft holder onto the mainshaft.
- Cut the lock tab (A) off the mainshaft locknut (B) using a chisel (C).NOTE: Keep all of the chiseled particles out of the transmission.
- Remove the locknut (A) from the mainshaft (B).
- Pry the lock washer (C), and remove it.
- Remove the transmission housing mounting bolts (A) (23 bolts), special bolt (B), the transmission hanger (C), and the ground terminal bracket (D).
- While expanding the snap ring of the countershaft bearing with snap ring pliers, lift the transmission housing.
- Release the pliers, and remove the transmission housing (E), the two dowel pins (F), and the gasket.
- Remove the ATF feed pipes (G) (four) from the accumulator body.
- Remove the ATF feed pipes (H) (two) from the torque converter housing.
- Remove the mainshaft holder from the mainshaft.
- Pry the lock tab of the lock washer (I) on the shift fork (J), then remove the bolt and lock washer.
- Unlock the detent spring from the detent arm.
- Remove the park pawl stop (K), the park pawl (L), the pawl spring (M), and the pawl shaft (N).
- Remove the mainshaft (0), the countershaft (P), the shift fork (J), and the secondary shaft (Q) together, and remove the needle bearing (R) from the torque converter housing.
- Remove the selector control shaft and the park lever link (S).
- Remove the baffle plate (T).
- Remove the differential assembly (U).
- Remove the transfer output shaft (V).
- Remove the baffle plate (W).
- Remove the intermediary shaft (X).
- Remove the ATF strainer (A) (one bolt).
- Remove the accumulator body (B) (11 bolts), the dowel pins (two), the detent arm (C), the arm shaft (D), and the separator plate (E).
- Remove the ATF feed pipe (F) from the main valve body.
- Remove the secondary valve body (G) (one bolt), the dowel pins (two), and the separator plate (H). Do not let the check balls (I) (two) fall out.
- Remove the regulator valve body (J) (seven bolts), the stator shaft (K), the stator shaft stop (L), the dowel pins (two), and the separator plate (M).
- Remove the main valve body (N) (8 mm: three bolts, 6 mm: seven bolts). Do not let the lubrication check valve (0) fall out.
- Remove the torque converter check valve (P) and the valve spring (Q).
- Remove the ATF pump driven gear shaft (R), then remove the ATF pump gears (S).
- Remove the dowel pins (two) and the main separator plate (T).
- Remove the ATF passage pipe (U).
- Remove the ATF magnet (V), clean it, then reinstall it.
- Remove the 0-ring (W) from the ATF strainer, and replace it with a new 0-ring when reassembling the transmission.
- Remove the 0-ring (X) from the stator shaft, and replace it with a new 0-ring when reassembling the transmission.
- Clean the inlet opening (A) of the ATF strainer (B) thoroughly with compressed air, then check that it is good condition and that inlet opening is not clogged.
- Test the ATF strainer by pouring clean ATF through the inlet opening, and replace if it is clogged or damaged.
