Center Console Removal/Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:
  • Put on gloves to protect your hands.
  • Take care not to scratch the front seat, the dashboard, or the related parts.
  • Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
  1. Remove the front seat belt lower anchor from the seat, and remove the seat mounting bolts (see FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  2. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ), then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  3. Remove these items:
  4. Remove the screws securing the center console (A).

  5. Remove the driver's center console trim (A).
    1. Start at the rear area, detach the clips by pulling the trim.
    2. Pull up the console to release the guide pin (B).
    3. With seat ventilation: Disconnect the seat ventilation control unit connector (C).

  6. Remove the passenger's center console trim (A).
    1. Start at the rear area, detach the clips by pulling the trim.
    2. With navigation: Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit connector (B).

  7. From driver's side, disconnect the console subharness connector (A).

  8. Without navigation: From passenger's side, disconnect the USB adapter connector (A) and the USB main harness connector (B). Detach the harness clips (C).

  9. With navigation: From passenger's side, disconnect the USB adapter connector (A).

  10. Remove the bolts securing the center console (A).

  11. Detach the clips by pulling out the center console (A) from both sides, then pull up the console to remove it.

  12. Install the console in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
    • Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
    • Push the clips into place securely.
    • Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
