SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.
Put on gloves to protect your hands.
Take care not to scratch the dashboard, the body, or the related parts.
Take care not to bend the brackets.
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ), then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
Remove these items from the dashboard:
- A-pillar trims, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - PILLAR AREAS )
- Driver's outer dashboard trim (see DRIVER'S OUTER DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Driver's inner dashboard trim (see DRIVER'S INNER DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Instrument fascia (see INSTRUMENT FASCIA REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Driver's dashboard undercover (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Steering column (see STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION )
- Passenger's dashboard trim (see PASSENGER'S DASHBOARD TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Passenger's dashboard trim panel (see PASSENGER'S DASHBOARD TRIM PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Dashboard side vents (see DASHBOARD VENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Glove box (see GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Passenger's dashboard undercover (see PASSENGER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT )
- Center speaker (see FRONT CENTER SPEAKER )
- Without navigation: Audio and HVAC switch panel (see AUDIO AND HVAC SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- With navigation: Audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION AND HVAC SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Without navigation: Audio display unit (see AUDIO AND HVAC SWITCH PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- With navigation: Navigation display unit (see NAVIGATION DISPLAY UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Without navigation: Audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- With navigation: Audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- With navigation: GPS antenna (see GPS ANTENNA REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- For some models: Keyless access control unit (see CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST )
- Front passenger's airbag (see FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT )
- Humidity/In-car temperature sensor (see HUMIDITY/IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT )
Driver's Side
Detach the harness clip (A) from between the A-pillar and the dashboard.

Middle Area
From the front of the dashboard, release the harness clip (A).

Passenger's Side
Disconnect the roof wire harness connector (A) and the antenna read connector (B), and detach the harness clip (C).

Remove the bolts (A) and screws (B) securing the dashboard (C).

Lift up on the dashboard (A) to release it from the guide pins (B), then carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.
NOTE: Do not rest the dashboard on its lower center cover opening, or it may be damaged. Lay it on its front or back.

Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
- Make sure the dashboard wire harness is not pinched before tightening the bolts.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
