DTC P0331  : Knock Sensor 2 (Bank 2) Malfunction

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information .

P0331 Knock Sensor 2 (Bank 2) Malfunction      

DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. Knock sensor 2 (Bank 2) installation check

    -1. Check that knock sensor 2 (Bank 2) is installed correctly.

    Is knock sensor 2 (Bank 2) installed correctly?

    YES 

    Installation is OK. Replace knock sensor 2 (Bank 2) , then do the repair verification.

    NO 

    Installation is not correct, reinstall knock sensor 2 (Bank 2), then do the repair verification.

  2. Repair verification

    -1. Reconnect all connectors.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Reset the PCM with the HDS .

    -4. Do the PCM idle learn procedure.

    -5. Test-drive under these conditions:

    • Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 158 deg.F (70 deg.C)
    • Transmission in D
    • Engine speed at 2, 000 RPM or more
    • Drive 5 seconds or more

    -6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P0331 Knock Sensor 2 (Bank 2) Malfunction      

    DTC (PGM-FI)

    Is DTC P0331 indicated?

    YES 

    Check for poor connections or loose terminals at knock sensor 2 (Bank 2) and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM , then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.

    NO 

    Troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM . If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
