Front Seat Removal/Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

Do the ODS unit initialization (see ODS UNIT INITIALIZATION ) after front passenger's seat replacement.

NOTE:

Put on gloves to protect your hands.
Take care not to scratch the body or tear the seat covers.
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.

Adjust the steering column to the full tilt up position and to the full telescopic in position.
Slide the front seat all the way forward. Carefully pry up on the bottom of the anchor cover (A) at the pry point (B) with the appropriate trim tool to release the hooks (C) and the tab (D), then remove the cover by pulling it upward. The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is similar.

Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).

Remove the seat track end covers (A) from the back of both seat tracks.

Remove the seat mounting bolts from the rear side of the front seat.

Slide the front seat all the way back, and remove the seat mounting bolts.

Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ), then wait at least 3 minutes before removing the seat.
Lift up the front seat, then detach the harness clip(s) (A). Disconnect the side airbag connector (B) and the seat wire harness connector (C).

Passenger's seat

Remove the head restraint.
With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the front seat through the front door opening.
Install the seat in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Tighten the seat mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Slide the seat all the way back and tighten (1) and (2), then slide it forward and tighten (3) and (4).
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to the specified torque.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION ).
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
