Tailpipe Emissions Test: Test
- HDS - Connect
1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not start the engine. 2. Connect the HDS to the DLC (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM and other vehicle systems. If it doesn't, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting - Refer to: DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (2014 2015), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (2019 2020), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting(Without CAN Gateway) (2016), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting(With CAN Gateway) (2016), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (2017 2018), or DLC Circuit Troubleshooting (2017 2018)

- Tailpipe Emissions - Test
1. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3, 000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle. 2. Check the idle speed within specification
3. Warm up and calibrate the CO meter according to the meter manufacturer's instructions.
4. Check idle CO with the headlights, heater blower, rear window defogger, cooling fan, and air conditioner off.Specified CO: 0.1 % max.
- If unable to obtain this reading; see DTC troubleshooting.
- If unable to obtain a CO reading of specified % by this procedure, check the tune-up condition.
