Confirmation Procedure
- Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3000 RPM without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle at least 20 seconds.
- Check for these conditions in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
- HDS [ ECT Sensor 1 ] above 158 deg.F (70 deg.C)
- HDS [ IAT Sensor (1) ] above 32 deg.F (0 deg.C)
- Vehicle Speed is 0 mph (0 km/h)
- HDS [ AF FB (ST Fuel Trim) ] between 0.75 and 1.47
- HDS [ FSS ] is CLOSED
- Monitor the HDS [ OBD STATUS (PGM-FI) ] for DTC P0506.
