Engine Oil Monitor System 

General Description 

The engine oil monitor system informs the driver when the engine oil and/or the engine oil filter should be replaced by indicating a message on the gauge control module. .

• Item A: Replace engine oil.
• Item B: Replace engine oil and engine oil filter.

The PCM calculates the current driving condition, the engine load, and the appropriate engine oil replacement period. It then displays a message on the gauge control module according to the result of this calculation.

Fail-Safe Action 

If the PCM stores engine system DTC(s), it will not be able to properly calculate the current driving condition because of the fail-safe action. Instead, the PCM calculates a temporary driving condition in theory and determines a replacement period earlier than normal with a caution display on the gauge control module. .
