DTC C0040-12: Inspection

BRK_DIAG Shorted Wire Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• 1. -

     VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector: disconnected

  2. -

     Brake light relay: disconnected

• Procedure
• 1. -

     Perform the inspection according to the following table.

     NOTE: Refer to the Open/Shorted Wire Inspection Description for the method to inspect the shorted circuit below, then start to inspect according to circumstances.

			(Disconnected) VSA modulator-control unit 46P connector emale terminals

		IG Mode	Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.	Normal Conditions
	BRK_DIAG shorted to power inspection	ON		Not shorted

Results 

• If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

STOP_SW Shorted Wire Inspection 

NOTE:  Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

Test Procedure 

• Preparation
• 1. -

     PCM connector A (50P): disconnected

  2. -

     Brake pedal position switch 4P connector: disconnected

  3. -

     Brake light relay: disconnected

• Procedure
• 1. -

     Perform the inspection according to the following table.

     NOTE: Refer to the Open/Shorted Wire Inspection Description for the method to inspect the shorted circuit below, then start to inspect according to circumstances.

			(Disconnected) PCM connector A (50P) - Refer to: PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs(3.0L Engine) or PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs(2.0L Engine) female terminals

	STOP_SW shorted to power inspection	ON		Not shorted

Results 

• If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.

PCM Inspection 

NOTE:  Since there is no direct method to test the inspection item, troubleshooting is performed using a known-good component.

Test Procedure 

• Install a known-good PCM and attempt to reproduce the failure.

Results 

• If the failure is reproduced, there is a problem with other related components.
• If the symptom/DTC goes away, the PCM must be faulty.

VSA Modulator-Control Unit Inspection 

Test Procedure 

• If the other inspection item(s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining VSA modulator-control unit is the cause.

Results 

• There is a problem with the VSA modulator-control unit.
