Starter Performance Test (2.0L Engine): Test

How to use this manual .

NOTICE: 

  1. Starter Performance (Suction) - Test

    Preconditions

    Procedure/Specifications 

    • Connect the 12 volt battery as shown, and check for continuity between the B terminal and the starter body.

    Specifications 

    Position Specification
    a
    • B terminal and starter body has continuity
    • Starter pinion moves out

    Result 

    • If it is abnormal, replace the starter.
  2. Starter Performance (Retract) - Test

    Preconditions

    Procedure/Specifications 

    1. Connect the 12 volt battery as shown, and check for continuity between the B terminal and the starter body. (Figure 1)

    2. Disconnect the 12 volt battery from the starter body, and check the starter performance. (Figure 2)

    Specifications (Figure 2) 

    Position Specification
    a
    • B terminal and starter body has no continuity
    • Starter pinion retracts immediately

    Result 

    • If it is abnormal, replace the starter.
  3. Starter Performance (No Load) - Test

    Preconditions

    Procedure/Specifications 

    • Connect the starter to the 12 volt battery as shown, and confirm that the motor runs.
      NOTE: If the electric current meets the specification, when the 12 volt battery voltage is at 11.5 V, the starter is working properly.

    Specifications 

    Standard Value
    80 A or less

    Result 

    • If the measurement is not within specifications, replace the starter.
