Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test: Test

How to use this manual .

NOTICE: 

• Refer to the Fuel and Emissions Systems Service Precautions  before doing the procedure.
• Check for DTCs with the HDS. If any of the following DTCs are indicated, troubleshoot the indicated DTCs. If the PGM-FI system's DTC and the body electrical system's DTC are indicated at the same time, troubleshoot the PGM-FI system's DTC first.
• • PGM-FI system: P0462, P0463
  • Body electrical system: B1175, B1176

1. Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit - Test

   Preconditions 

   • DTC P0462 or P0463 not indicated.
   • DTC B1175 or B1176 not indicated.
   • Secondary Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Removed

   Procedure/Specifications 

   1. Confirm that the resistance at the following terminals changes smoothly by moving the float.

   Measurement Terminal 

   Secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector (male terminals):
   No. 2 - No. 4

   Specifications 

   Object	Specification
   Float	Resistance changes smoothly

   2. Measure the resistance between the following terminals with each position.

   Measurement Terminal 

   Secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector (male terminals):
   No. 2 - No. 4

   Specifications 

   Specification
   a	173.7 mm (6.839 in)	29-31 Ohm
   b	32.9 mm (1.295 in)	429.0-439.4 Ohm

   Result 

   • If the measurement is not within specifications, replace the secondary fuel level sensor (secondary fuel gauge sending unit) .

   After Test 

   • Remove the following fuses for at least 10 seconds, then reinstall it.
   • • -No. C17
     • -No. C47
