DTC Troubleshooting: P16E2 (3.0L Engine): Inspection
Alternator Inspection
NOTICE:
Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Preconditions
NOTE:
This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.
- External circuit is normal
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- PCM connector B (72P): disconnected
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected
- Left active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector
- Right active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector
- Procedure
-
- Perform the inspection according to the following table.
| (Disconnected)DC-DC converter connector A (3P)female terminals | ||||
| IG Mode |
|
Normal Conditions | ||
| Alternator internal circuit inspection | OFF | Not shorted | ||
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the alternator.
Components Connected to LIN Circuit Inspection
-
- Alternator 1P connector: disconnected
- PCM connector B (72P): disconnected
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected
- Left active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector: disconnected
- Right active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector: disconnected
- Procedure
Perform the inspection according to the following table and while reconnecting these connectors, one at a time:
-
- PCM connector B (72P)
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P)
- Left active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector
- Right active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector
| (Disconnected)Alternator 1P connectorfemale terminals | ||||
| IG Mode |
|
Normal Conditions | ||
| Part connected to LIN circuit internal circuit inspection | OFF | Not shorted | ||
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the part that has shorted when it was reconnected.
LIN (FI-ECU) [LIN] Circuit Inspection
NOTICE:
Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- PCM connector B (72P): disconnected
- Alternator 1P connector: disconnected
- DC-DC converter connector A (3P): disconnected
- Left active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector: disconnected
- Right active exhaust valve actuator 3P connector: disconnected
- Procedure
-
- Perform the inspection according to the following table.
| (Disconnected)Alternator 1P connectorfemale terminals | (Disconnected) PCM connector B (72P) - Refer to: PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (3.0L Engine) or PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2.0L Engine) female terminals | ||||
| IG Mode |
|
|
Normal Conditions | ||
| LIN (FI-ECU) [LIN] open wire inspection | OFF | There is less than 1 Ohm | |||
| LIN (FI-ECU) [LIN] shorted to ground inspection | OFF | Not shorted | |||
Results
- If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.
PCM Inspection
Test Procedure
- If the other inspection item (s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.
Results
- There is a problem with the PCM.
