DTC Troubleshooting: P2138 (2.0L Engine): Inspection
APS1, APS2 Shorted Wire Inspection
NOTICE:
Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
- APP sensor 6P connector: disconnected
- Procedure
-
- Perform the inspection according to the following table.
| (Disconnected) PCM connector A (50P) - Refer to: PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (3.0L Engine) or PCM Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2.0L Engine) female terminals | ||||
| IG Mode |
|
Normal Conditions | ||
| APS1, APS2 shorted wire to wire inspection | OFF | There is more than 1 MOhm | ||
Results
- If abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.
APP Sensor Inspection
Preconditions
NOTE:
This procedure can be done before any other inspections are completed because this test procedure includes all of the following inspection items. However, if this test fails, it will be necessary to continue with each inspection item individually to determine which item failed.
- External circuit is normal
Test Procedure
- Procedure
-
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Press the accelerator pedal to any position and keep it.
- Confirm the HDS [APP Sensor A Voltage] value and the [APP Sensor B Voltage] value.
- Normal Conditions
-
- HDS [APP Sensor A Voltage] value is about twice as [APP Sensor B Voltage] value at any accelerator pedal position.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the accelerator pedal module.
APP Sensor Component Inspection

| Sensor internal circuit inspection | OFF | There is no continuity | ||
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the accelerator pedal module.
PCM Inspection
Test Procedure
- If the other inspection item (s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.
Results
- There is a problem with the PCM.
