DTC Troubleshooting: P2138 (3.0L Engine): Inspection
APP Sensor Inspection
NOTE:
Since there is no direct method to test the component itself, troubleshooting is performed on the related components.
Test Procedure
Unit output voltage inspection
- Preparation
-
- APP sensor 6P connector: disconnected
- Procedure
-
- Jump the APP sensor 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3 with a jumper wire.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Confirm the HDS [APP Sensor A Voltage] value and the [APP Sensor B Voltage] value.

|
|
- Normal Conditions
-
- -
HDS [APP Sensor A Voltage] value is about 0 V .
- -
HDS [APP Sensor B Voltage] value is about 5.0 V .
- -
Results
- If it is normal, there is a problem with the accelerator pedal module.
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with other related components.
APS1, APS2 Shorted Wire Inspection
NOTICE:
Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- APP sensor 6P connector: disconnected
- PCM connector B (72P): disconnected
- Procedure
-
- Perform the inspection according to the following table.
| (Disconnected)APP sensor 6P connectorfemale terminals | ||||
| IG Mode |
|
Normal Conditions | ||
| APS1, APS2 shorted wire to wire inspection | OFF | There is more than 1 MOhm | ||
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem in the circuit.
PCM Inspection
Test Procedure
- If the other inspection item (s) indicated a normal condition, then it is determined that the remaining PCM is the cause.
Results
- There is a problem with the PCM.
