Connector Visual Inspection

Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:
ECT sensor 1
ECT sensor 2

- Normal Conditions

- -
Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.
- -
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.
ECT Sensor 1 Functional Inspection
Test Procedure
- Procedure

- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 minutes.
- Confirm the HDS [ECT Sensor 1].
- Normal Conditions
-
- -
HDS [ECT Sensor 1] value is more than 120 deg.F (49 deg.C) .
- -
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with ECT sensor 1.
ECT Sensor 2 Functional Inspection
Test Procedure
- Procedure

- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 minutes.
- Confirm the HDS [ECT Sensor 2].
- Normal Conditions
-
- -
HDS [ECT Sensor 2] value is more than 120 deg.F (49 deg.C) .
- -
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with ECT sensor 2.
ECT Sensor 1, ECT Sensor 2 Inspection
Test Procedure

- Let ECT sensor 1 and ECT sensor 2 cool to the ambient temperature.
- Note the ambient temperature.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Quickly confirm the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] and [ECT Sensor 2] and note them.
- Normal Conditions

- -
The difference between the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] or [ECT Sensor 2] value and the recorded ambient temperature is less than 5.4 deg.F (3 deg.C) .

Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with ECT sensor 1 and/or ECT sensor 2.
