General Description

The transmission control module (TCM) judges the parking position by the output voltage from the parking actuator valve stroke sensor. If both the parking actuator valve stroke sensor A and the parking actuator valve stroke sensor B voltages are in a specified range for a specified duration, the TCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Execution Continuous
Sequence None
Duration 0.5 second or more
DTC Type One drive cycle, MIL off, shift position indicator blinks

Enable Conditions

Condition Minimum Maximum
Engine speed [Engine Speed] 500 rpm -
12 volt battery voltage [Battery Voltage] 10 V -
Other Clutch pressure control solenoid valve A actual current value is 400 mA or more, or shift solenoid valve D is ON condition
Not while switching to parking position
Engine speed, 12 volt battery voltage, and other conditions in Enable Conditions should be satisfied continuous for at least 4.5 seconds

[ ]: HDS Parameter

Malfunction Threshold

Both of conditions are met for at least 0.5 second:

Possible Cause

NOTE: The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.

Confirmation Procedure

Operating Condition

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC

When a malfunction is detected, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC

The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool clear command.
