Front Wheel Geometry

NOTE:

This check procedure must be carried out after each operation on the mechanical components of the front suspension since it defines the position of the wheels in relation to the body (e.g.: control arms, struts, shock absorbers, springs etc.).

The wheel geometry/angle checks must be carried out using appropriate optical equipment after checking and adjusting tire inflation pressure to the prescribed values and ensuring that the car complies with one of the following load conditions:

Geometry check

Check that the geometry of the front wheels is within prescribed values; to measure the geometry, check the distance from the ground to the maximum point of curvature on the front wing (protrusion).

Size  Value
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 17" / rear 18" (mm) Coupe  678 (Standard 0)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 17" / rear 18" (mm) Spider  673 (Standard 0)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 17" / rear 18" (mm) Coupe  673 (Standard A)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 17" / rear 18" (mm) Spider  667 (Standard A)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 18" / rear 19" (mm) Spider  669 (Standard 0)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 18" / rear 19" (mm) Coupe  671 (Standard A)
Front geometry - Alloy rims: front 18" / rear 19" (mm) Spider  663 (Standard A)

Front half toe in check

Check that the front wheel half toe-in is within required limits.

Size  Value
Front wheel half toe in -.07° (Standard 0) ± 0.07°
Front wheel half toe in -.08° (Standard A) ± 0.07°

Adjust the steering rod nut (1) in order to comply with the prescribed limits.

After adjusting, tighten the steering rod fixing nut.

Component Fixing Dia Value (Nm)
Steering rod (adjustment) Nut M14x1.5 50

Camber check

Check that the front wheel camber is within the prescribed limits.

Size  Value  Validity
Front wheel camber -.73° (Standard 0) ±.17°
Front wheel camber -.75° (Standard A) ±.17°
Front wheel camber -.98° (Standard 0) ±.17° Launch Edition
Front wheel camber -1° (Standard A) ±.17° Launch Edition

In order to comply with the prescribed limits, loosen the fixing nuts (1a) for the lower control arms and remove or insert the adjustment plates (1b).

After adjustment, tighten the fixing nuts, with a pre-torque of 20 Nm.

Complete the tightening of the lower wishbone fixing nuts to the prescribed torque.

Component Fixing Dia Value (Nm)
Lower control arm (to body) Nut M10x1.5 55 + 45°
NOTE:

After front wheel camber adjustment, the difference in angle between the left and right wheel must be ±15'.

NOTE:

After camber and/or half toe-in adjustment, apply DINITROL 4010 (part number 71749812) waxy substance, or similar product, in the attachment area of the upper control arms (1a), lower control arms (1b) and fastening bracket for the spring/shock absorber unit (1c).

Caster check

NOTE:

The front wheel caster cannot be adjusted. If the value is not within the prescribed limits, check the upper and lower wishbones and the body.

Check that the front wheel caster is within prescribed limits.

Front Caster 2.13° (Standard 0)
Front Caster 2.18° (Standard A)
