Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Test complete.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
- CHECK THE CAN BUS CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND BODY CONTROL MODULE
- Check for the presence of loose electrical connections at the Powertrain Control Module and the Body Control Module.
Were any loose electrical connections present?
Yes
- Restore the correct connections.
No
- Go To 3
- Check for the presence of loose electrical connections at the Powertrain Control Module and the Body Control Module.
- CHECK THE CAN BUS WIRING CONTINUITY
- Check for correct continuity of the wiring between the Body Control Module and the Powertrain Control Module.
Does the wiring have continuity?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Restore the correct continuity for the wiring.
- Check for correct continuity of the wiring between the Body Control Module and the Powertrain Control Module.
- CHECK THE CAN BUS WIRING FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Check the correct insulation of the wiring between ground and the CAN Bus wiring.
Was the wiring shorted to ground?
Yes
- Restore the correct insulation for the wiring.
No
- Go To 5
- Check the correct insulation of the wiring between ground and the CAN Bus wiring.
- CHECK THE CAN BUS WIRING FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY
- Check the correct insulation of the wiring between Battery and the CAN Bus wiring.
Was the wiring shorted to Battery?
Yes
- Restore the correct insulation for the wiring.
No
- Go To 6
- Check the correct insulation of the wiring between Battery and the CAN Bus wiring.
- CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Check that the Powertrain Control Module power supply is correct.
Is the Powertrain Control Module power supply correct?
Yes
- Go To 7
No
- Restore the Powertrain Control Module power supply.
- Check that the Powertrain Control Module power supply is correct.
- CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY
- Check that the Cruise Control power supply is correct.
Is the Cruise Control power supply correct?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Restore the Cruise Control power supply.
- Check that the Cruise Control power supply is correct.
- CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE
- Verify that the Powertrain Control Module is working correctly.
Is the Powertrain Control Module working correctly?
Yes
- Refer to 9.
No
- Replace the Powertrain Control Module. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Verify that the Powertrain Control Module is working correctly.
- CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION
- Verify that the Cruise Control is working correctly.
Is the Cruise Control working correctly?
Yes
- End of diagnosis.
No
- Cruise Control not working correctly, Replace the Steering Column Stalk. Refer to SWITCH, MULTIFUNCTION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Verify that the Cruise Control is working correctly.
