Battery Connection Procedure
Disconnect
- Make sure ALL
the windows are closed fully.NOTE:
Disconnection of the battery when ALL the windows are NOT FULLY CLOSED will require the window learning procedure to be performed.
- Open the liftgate and support it so it will not close.
- The key must be in the OFF position and the vehicle must remain powered down for at least 1 minute.
- Lift out the load floor cover, then remove the battery cover (1a).NOTE:
IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) equipped vehicle shown in illustration
- Press the release button (2) and disconnect the negative battery cable (1a) from the post (1b). If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector.
Connect
NOTE:
Make sure that the negative battery terminal is not damaged before installation.
- In the event that the liftgate is closed while the battery is disconnected, fold the rear left seat back down.
- Remove cover (1b) on the liftgate (1a). There is a cable (2a) that is attached to the cover that will pull out of the opening. Pull the cable to release the liftgate latch.
- Connect the negative battery cable (1a) onto the post (1b). If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- Install the battery cover (1a).
- Close the liftgate
MANUALLY .
NOTE:The liftgate must be closed manually after connecting the battery. Once closed the opening/closing electrical control function is acquired.
- If equipped with an electric tow hook, press and hold the button (1) on the rear trim panel for at least 10 seconds. The LED light will turn on continuously to confirm the initialization has taken place.
- Initializing the steering is required. This will be indicated by a warning light on the IPC illuminating. Start the engine, turn the steering wheel from one lock to the other and turn it back into the center position.
